The best designs are often the simplest, comprising of only a few colours and shapes. When you break it down, much textile design is no more than dots and lines put together different ways. For me, inspiration often comes from doing the thing first and seeing what comes of it. A blank white piece of paper, however, can be a daunting thing, and too much premeditation can be a roadblock to creating anything at all. Dot - dash is a regular meditation of white pen on a much less intimidating piece of black paper to simply see what comes out.
